TSN Announces 2006/07 NFL Broadcast Campaign

Toronto, ON - TSN is the place to be for prime time High Definition NFL action in 2006/07 as the network announced its 42-game regular season broadcast schedule beginning Thursday, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. ET with the NFL Kickoff Special, leading into the season opener at 8:30 p.m. ET as the 2005 Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers host the Miami Dolphins.

With exclusive Canadian coverage of Monday Night Football and the return of Sunday Night Football, TSN offers Canadians a one-two punch with back-to-back nights of NFL action. Included in the mix is exclusive coverage in Canada of the Thursday/Saturday night broadcast package. All games will air in prime time and in High Definition on TSN HD.

TSN's NFL lineup features the newest preview show, Football Night in America, which premieres on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. ET prior to the season opener and will air regularly on Sundays at 7 p.m. ET. With coverage of additional NFL magazine shows NFL Countdown, Monday Night Countdown and NFL Primetime, the NFL Draft, and special segments on SportsCentre and TSN.ca, TSN solidifies its position as the prime time home of the NFL in Canada.

Broadcast Schedule

Monday Night Football
A 36-year tradition and the most successful series in sports television, Monday Night Football makes its debut on TSN on Monday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. ET with a doubleheader featuring Minnesota @ Washington, followed immediately by San Diego @ Oakland. TSN's Monday Night Football broadcast schedule includes exclusive Canadian coverage of all 17 regular season match-ups, including a doubleheader on Christmas Day (December 25). ESPN's Mike Tirico, Joe Theismann and Tony Kornheiser will call the action from the broadcast booth.

Sunday Night Football
Continuing its long-standing partnership with TSN, Sunday Night Football returns to the network for another season with coverage of all 15 regular season Sunday night games. The action gets underway on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. ET with Indianapolis @ NY Giants, featuring the battle of the Mannings - Peyton and Eli. NBC's broadcast team includes NFL Hall of Famer John Madden and broadcasting legend Al Michaels.

Thursday/Saturday Games
Rounding out TSN's comprehensive NFL game schedule are the Thursday and Saturday prime time match-ups, beginning with the NFL season opener on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 8:30 p.m. ET featuring Miami visiting the 2005 Super Bowl Champions in Pittsburgh. TSN is the only network in Canada to televise the eight prime time games on Thursdays and Saturdays during the 2006/07 NFL regular season.

NFL on TSN ratings have increased dramatically over the past five years. TSN recorded an average audience of 340,000 viewers during the 2005/06 season, marking a 34 per cent increase over the season average in 2000 (254,000)*. TSN has been televising NFL games since 1987.

Magazine Shows

NFL Countdown - Sundays at 11 a.m. ET (available in High Definition)
Chris Berman celebrates his 20th season as host of the weekly preview show NFL Countdown, which returns to the TSN airwaves this fall. The two-hour show previews the upcoming week in the NFL, and also provides analysis, team news, weekly features and the latest updates from stadiums around the league. Joining Berman are analysts (and former NFLers) Tom Jackson, Michael Irvin and Ron Jaworski, former head coach Mike Ditka, and NFL Insider Chris Mortensen.

Football Night in America - Sundays at 7 p.m. ET (available in High Definition)
Football Night in America is set to make its TSN - and television - debut this fall. The newest football magazine show to hit the airwaves, NBC's Football Night in America is the studio preview show for Sunday Night Football and features highlights, interviews and game analysis from some of the most respected NFL journalists and former players. Host Bob Costas is joined by co-host and studio analyst Cris Collinsworth, former NFL greats-turned-analysts Sterling Sharpe and Jerome Bettis, and Sports Illustrated NFL reporter Peter King.

Monday Night Countdown - Mondays at 7:30 p.m. ET (available in High Definition)
The popular Monday Night Football preview show returns to TSN with a new look and some familiar faces. Hosted by ESPN's Chris Berman, the program provides analysis, interviews, highlights, news and reports directly from the sidelines of each Monday Night Football game. Berman is joined by former NFLers Michael Irvin, Steve Young and Tom Jackson, and NFL Insider Chris Mortensen.

NFL Primetime - Tuesdays at 1 a.m. ET (available in High Definition)
TSN welcomes back NFL Primetime for the 2006/07 season, on a new day and time. The one-hour program provides a complete wrap-up of the week that was in the NFL, with highlights, interviews and team updates from all the week's action, including the Monday Night Football match-up. ESPN's Stuart Scott will host the recap show.

SportsCentre
SportsCentre has wall-to-wall NFL highlights and analysis throughout the season. On Thursdays, TSN football expert Chris Schultz is back with the popular Risky Business segment, as Schultz offers his four weekly picks against the spread. On Fridays, TSN NFL Insider John Clayton hits the air with his perspective on the upcoming weekend's action. On Saturdays, it's Chris Berman's popular 2-Minute Drill with the commentator's head-to-head predictions for the upcoming week in the NFL.

TSN.ca
Chris Schultz's popular online column Schultz Against the World returns to TSN.ca for another exciting season, where fans can go head-to-head with Schultz and pick the winners of each game. TSN.ca, Canada's leading sports website, will also have a comprehensive season preview with a complete list of all the off-season moves and training camp highlights, as well as up-to-the-minute news, game results and stats during the season. For college football buffs, TSN.ca provides a mock college draft and post-draft analysis, allowing fans to track acquisitions by their favourite teams.

ESPN Classic
ESPN Classic joins in the football festivities with some of the greatest moments in NFL history with Pre-season Tailgate, today (August 28) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET. The tribute focuses on the NFL's greatest heroes and personalities as well as its history, humanity and humor. Highlights include strange but true football stories and NFL broadcasting legend Howard Cosell at large. ESPN Classic has additional classic NFL programming, weekly on Mondays at 6 p.m. ET.
