Canadian fizzles in EA Sports Madden final

Life was not good for two types of competitors at the International EA Sports Madden Challenge tournament held recently in Los Angeles: online qualifiers and international regional champions.

All three international competitors (Aaron Harris of the United Kingdom, Muhammed Abdulle of Canada and Sebastian Cardoza of Mexico City) made exits in the first round.

Daniel Truth Brown, Stephen Delgado Jr. and David Bond were all losers after winning the online qualifier.

Michael "Duke" Crandall and Steve "Big Show" Tomlinson were the only live tournament regional winners to suffer losses in the first round.

The tournament was dominated by the regional winner from Dallas, Texas, Eric Wright. For his efforts Wright captured $100,000 USD in prizes.

The Canadian EA Sports Madden Challenge was held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in November and involved more than 200 gamers. Legendary NFL running back Jamal Anderson made an appearance at the event. In 1998 Anderson rushed for 1,846 yards and 14 TDs while leading his Atlanta Falcons to the Super Bowl.

The overall Canadian EA Sports Madden Challenge consisted of 12 regional tournaments (held at Best Buy locations across the country in October) and the Toronto final.
