Canada's first NFL regular season game
One of the NFL’s most heated division rivalries will be coming to Toronto this fall. The Miami Dolphins will be the regular season opponent for the 2008 Bills Toronto Series game.
On December 7, with the 2008 NFL season reaching its culmination, the Bills will face division rival Miami at Rogers Centre. The game will be played at 4:00 p.m. EST and broadcast nationally in Canada on City TV and Rogers Sportsnet.
The game will be the first NFL regular-season game ever played in Canada. The series includes a regular season game each year (2008-2012) and preseason games in 2008, 2010 and 2012.
The regular season game against the Dolphins will complement the already announced pre-season game on Thursday, August 14 which will see the Bills face the Pittsburgh Steelers at Rogers Centre. The Bills-Steelers game will be played at 7:30 P.M. EDT and broadcast nationally in Canada.
A random draw will be used to determine which football fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets. In order to be eligible for the opportunity to purchase game tickets fans simply need to register on www.billsintoronto.com by April 24th, 2008.
“We are thrilled to have the Miami Dolphins as the regular season opponent. By providing these two exciting teams, both of which have storied rivalries with the Bills, the NFL has demonstrated it’s commitment to this groundbreaking Bills Toronto Series,” said Phil Lind, Vice Chairman, Rogers Communications Inc.
After a strong draft including starting quarterback Trent Edwards and starting running back Marshawn Lynch, the Bills made a late-season push for the 2007 NFL playoffs and look to continue the momentum in 2008.
Ticket prices for the Bills Toronto Series have yet to be finalized. Tickets will go on sale in May, 2008.
