2010 Take a Player to School winners

Four young NFL fans -- the winners of the 2009/10 NFL Take a Player to School sweepstakes -- will have a dream come true this spring, and become a celebrity at their school in the process.

The winning students are:

Jack Nielson, an 11-year-old student at Ecole Rochingham in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Damon Forsyth, a 10-year-old student at Spruce Avenue School in Edmonton, Alberta

Tyler Wedel, a 10-year-old student at Cambridge Elementary School in Surrey, British Columbia

Hannah Roth, a 6-year-old student at Edward Johnson School in Guelph, Ontario

The students will have an NFL player visit their home, then ride to school in a limousine. The NFL player will then address their classmates. Winners also receive NFL merchandise for the entire family. Participating NFL players and timing of the visits will be announced in the coming weeks.

Close to 1,000 Canadian students between the ages of 6 and 13 registered for this unique opportunity to surprise their classmates and teachers with the ultimate "show and tell" opportunity.

The sixth annual NFL "Take a Player to School" sweepstakes centers on inspiring youth to make the most of their in-school and after school time by making smart and healthy choices and by setting goals and working to achieve them.

In past years NFL stars making the trip to Canada as part of the program have included Marcus Trufant (Seahawks) and Trent Edwards (Bills).

"The well being of our youth continues to be a priority for the NFL in Canada," said Mike Danischewsky, NFL Canada. "The Take a Player to School program not only delivers a once-in-a-lifetime experience to some of our fans, but is also an effective way to endorse healthy choices for all young Canadians.”
