Burleson Poised for Big Year

Week one is now in the books, and the 2007 campaign has officially begun. There were some games that I have to admit surprised me, but not the Seahawks over the Bucs. In talking with Canadian Nate Burleson, a wideout in Seattle, it seems as if the team is in good spirits in Seattle and not too bothered or influenced by the media.

The Seattle Seahawks for the 2007 season are poised to make a run at the division in 2007, and with everyone back from injuries, and some key additions, they might even be on pace to put in a decent playoff run down the stretch.

The key ingredient this year according to Burleson is "consistency." Last season the team was hampered with nagging injuries which will put a halt on any teams chemistry. However in today's game players are expected to fill in those spots without missing a beat. You've seen it in New England year after year, and in Philly last season with Jeff Garcia.

Yet sometimes the expectations from organizations are a little unrealistic because when you have, let's say a guard, who has been playing with his tackle for 8 games straight, and the tackle goes down, the new guy in has to learn how the guard operates on the field, his strengths, etc., but there is no excuse for mental errors.

The good offseason attendance for Seattle also comes across as another example of why they will be a viable contender. Although Burleson has a personal trainer, he attended a majority of the offseason workouts and sometimes doubled up from team workouts to speed work with his personal trainer. I think it is evident from what he displayed during the preseason and the 1st week of action. Also when asked about how does he prepare and stay on top of his game physically, he responded by saying, "massages, cold tubs (baths full of ice and water), and a regiment of continuous stretching" , as we are still in the early stages of the season.

Nate also asked me to give a "big shout out" to Calgary!!! Where he is originally from.

One really interesting fact about Nate is that he has a company called the “CATCH (caring and teaching children how)Foundation.”

He and his wife operate this foundation to “lend out a helping hand” to children, families and pretty much human beings in distress. I thought that would be a good note to leave off on. Until next time.
