SBXLII: Cowboys over Patriots?

SBXLII: Cowboys over Patriots?

By Ian Allen

Ok Ok Ok, listen up. I know what I am going to say is going to be completely controversial and debatable, but I can see the future…the Super Bowl future!!! Dallas Cowboys against the New England Patriots, and the Cowboys win by a decent margin.

In England on Sky Sports, my colleagues and some of the fans that email in laughed at me, and even made some comments in regards to my analyst of this particular subject, but here is why I make such a claim. Of course this is provided that these two teams make it all the way to the Big Dance.

Tony Romo made me a believer when they played the Chicago Bears earlier this season and he convinced Wade Phillips to go for it on 4th and 3 in the 1st quarter (the attempt was successful).

He also showed great poise in putting his 6-interception performance against the Bills out of his mind in time to focus on a game-winning drive.

With Romo lining up for the Cowboys against New England, I swear I saw Tom Brady show some nervousness for the first time all year.

The cherry on the sundae was Romo's dismantling of the Green Bay Packers on Thursday.

The Cowboys are the real deal, not because they won, but how they won. The defense is active and one of the best in the league, and they can really put pressure on the Quarterback, and their defensive backs have played to their strengths, and that’s a credit to the coaching staff.

Romo has been spreading the ball around, and not getting locked into one receiver he depends on.

Should the Cowboys-Patriots rematch take place February 3rd in Arizona, the Dallas Cowboys would be that much more prepared for the Patriots (remember the Eagles a couple weeks ago), and certainly they will open up the arsenal against Tom Brady, but in away that the did not do last time, and they will allow the Defensive Backs to play to their strengths. Maybe be I am off my rocker, but I don’t think so.
