After lighting it up in week 3, do you think the Eagles will continue to wear their vintage jerseys?

On the other end of the spectrum are the Buffalo Bills. How many injuries can one team sustain? They are really hurting, have an 0-3 record, lost their starting Q.B. and starting middle line backer in the game against the Pat’s on Sunday. So far they are missing five defensive starters from opening day.

From a player perspective the toughest part is to remain focused and positive during the week, tough but not impossible, when I was with the Bills in ’98 we started 0-3 and ended up making the playoffs, what I remember most about that year, is that we never conceded the season, there was no talk of giving up on the year, except from the media. You never know where the spark that turns around the season may come from or when it will happen.

The Saints are in a similar position, although there were higher expectations for that team. The Saints problems on offense are centered on the passing game. I want to first say that I love Drew Brees. All passing games have three key ingredients; protection, timing, confidence. As I see it, the Saints are struggling in their pass protection, which affects the other two, and until that is fixed, or the running game improves, they will continue to struggle.

Other notes:

• A phrase I would like to see retired from professional athletes. “They pay the other guys too” As pointed out to me, by my sister in-law, that phrase would probably get you fired at work.

• I am trying to get up to North Bay and lake Nippising for a late season fishing trip. I have been there several times before and love it. It’s great being so close to the Canadian border again.

• I was looking forward to seeing the Chargers and L.T. take the next step this year. It’s looking like that may be a long shot now.

• As a fan of the NFL now, and not a player, the season reminds me of a Soap Opera or weekly drama, with all the plot twists changing characters, and surprise endings, although the way things are going now, New England may take away the chances of any surprise endings this year.

• My surprise teams, the Lions and Texans both lost last weekend, but I have not given up on them yet. I think they are a work in progress, but still may be in the playoff hunt at the end of the year.

• As a follow up to last week, I am waiting to hear from some ex –Buffalonians, and find out when they are coming back. We have the best of both worlds here (Buffalo & Canada).
